The WSMI 6th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference Was Held in Beijing!
 


The WSMI 6th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference was held over three days on 27-29 October 2004. The conference was held in Beijing, which is becoming remarkably developed with the opening of the Olympics in 4 years waiting in the wings. Numerous sessions were held with the theme "From the past to the future: Public health, regulatory and industrial opportunities in responsible self-medication."

On the opening day, the president of Sato Co., who gave a presentation in the 3rd session, described the market trends of health foods and Yunker in Japan with the theme "Food supplements and herbal tonics: A Japanese perspective." Although the health food market in Japan is growing rapidly, a consumer survey shows that the reliability of health foods is low compared to OTC drugs on the points of safety and efficacy. With subject matter such as the promotion of self-medication and invigoration of the industry by encouraging the reassessment of health food labels and the OTC classification of some health foods, participants from all countries listened attentively with great interest.
